Cybersmart WK2

The Cybersmart challenge this week is all about Copyright. So we had to watch a video then write what we think copyright is. After that we then had to read some slides about copyright. Then watched another video about how to explore it was pretty easy and they even gave us things to paste in the slide. This Cybersmart challenge was pretty good because we got to learn more about what copyright is and also how it works.

Team Tui Probability games

This morning Team Tui had been doing some Maths games that have to do with probability. Some of the games were Greedy pig, playing cards, bottle flip and we even had 2 fun games at the end once we completed the other 3. My favourite game was probably Greedy pig and bottle flip. For Greedy pig you had to roll one dice and add all of the numbers you get. To try and get 50 points or more. For bottle flip you had to try and land as many bottle flips as you can but you only get to flip the bottle 10 times. But overall I really enjoyed everything that we did and completed.

Reading WK1 Term 4

For Mondays reading we had to do Monday must do. For Monday must do you have to complete 3 task and 1 out of those 3 task was to watch a video about inference and what we learnt about it. An inference is something where you figure it out by putting clues together then you take a guess yourself.

Matariki reflection

On Thursday Glen Taylor had a matariki festival we performed in front of parents, Glenbrae, Pt England and Glendowie primary school. First the Kapa Haka group went and then from there the rest of the schools went and the kids from our school. I really enjoyed the performances and the maori songs that they presented.

After everybody finished performing we then went back to our classes and had workshops. The experience with everybody coming in and having a look at our workshop was so cool because we got to share all our hard work with them. I would definitely love to do this again because it was such a fun and great experience to have.

Types of angles

For maths this week my group [ level 4 ] is learning about types of angles. For our learning today my maths teacher Mrs Fonua front loaded us about the different types of angles. And how many degrees the different angles were. I really enjoyed learning about angles because it was very interesting learning how many different ones there are.

Metric Conversion [Maths]

For maths today we were learning about KM, Meters and CM. The teacher first showed us and taught us a little bit about it then we got assigned to do a worksheet. Which was a sheet that had Meters, CM and KM on it. We then filled it out and the teacher marked it. When the teacher finished marking we then glued it into our book. I found this task very easy and intresting.

Metaphor [Figurative language]

This week for writing we are learning about figurative language. For our first word that we were learning about was Metaphor. This task or activity was very easy and fun because there were riddles and sentences that we had to create ourselves.  I also learnt that Metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things that says one thing is another.

Maths Finding the perimeter of our shape

For maths today we were looking at calculating the perimeter of a shape. Mr Raj instructed that we play with the measuring tools available and then with a buddy, draw a random shape, calculate the perimeter and convert it into mm’s. Me and my partner chose to use a ruler. We then drew a shape which looked like a lolly. After we drew the shape we used a piece of string to go around the whole shape. Once we finished using the piece of string to measure the shape we then used the tool that we picked which was the ruler. And measured the string along the ruler to see how much centimetres it was. We got 86 centimetres for our perimeter.

Team Tui assembly

This week it was Team Tui’s assembly  we had to show case art, writing, pepehas ETC. It was very nice to see and hear the stories and finished pieces of students work. At one point some of the girls in the seniors and Glendowie college came and performed a beautiful dance including me. The performance was easy and we had to move our hips a lot. I was nervous at first but then when I started dancing I wasn’t anymore.
